Thinking of Green Spaces and Warm Places

We had our first snowfall here in London two nights ago, and it has been bitterly cold ever since. I'm thankful for massive down filled coats and extra long knitted scarves these days.

My morning routine at the moment involves waking up, leaping out of bed to switch the heating on, and then jumping back under the blankets as fast as I can until the room feels reasonably warm enough to allow me to get up and get ready for the day.

As winter stretches on I find myself drinking far more tea than anyone should, but warm cups are necessary to keeping my fingers moving and typing.

I'm daydreaming of spring and green trees, about tea dresses and sandals and lots and lots of flowers.

  1. As horrible as it may seem now you have to admit that sounds magical and terribly bohemian romantic! I love that winter bring the bohemian out in some people. I find the cold refreshing. It allows my coffee addiction to not look odd. It allows me to wear flannel daily and it allows for cuddling between Jason & I with zero issues. It is a wonderful time indeed. And since Indy's summers have been hitting 100+F I don't mind the cold anymore.

  2. I know it's not really fair for me to complain but I'm ready for warm weather. It's London weather here lately (drizzly and cold) and I'm ready for some sunshine STAT

  3. I want to be be in that picture up there. While I love the snow, I'm dreaming of summer dresses and leaving the apartment without a million layers. Mmhmm. :)

  4. Haha, your morning routine sounds like mine! Jump out of bed, sprint to the kettle on the other side of the room, plug in electric blanket and jump back into bed until the kettle's boiled. Then repeat with tea and wait until half 7 when the heating comes on. I love the snow, just not a huge fan of ice...

  5. We live on a relatively steep hill, so heading out in the morning can be periluous - especially after snow has melted slightly and refrozen, you need a good sense of balance!! For all the 'wooooah' scary arm flapping to keep upright, I adore the winter - the excuse to cosy up under blankets each evening makes me so very happy!
