Lipstick is my go-to makeup essential, it's the one thing I think looks good no matter how I'm dressed or what mood I'm in. Sometimes when I wear too much eye makeup I feel like it makes me look more beady-eyed and tired-looking than I am, but lipstick always makes me feel fresh.
One annoying thing about lipstick and my lips however, is that they don't always get along. I have really sensitive lips and whenever I use the wrong lipstick, my lips start to dry up and peel within an hour of applying. Gross, I know. One brand I would love to wear but simply can't, is Mac. Chanel isn't bad, but I can only mix it with lip balm and then it doesn't last.
Red, light pink and coral are my favourites, and I have finally found a few that make my lips happy:
Dior Sérum de Rouge in Soft Pink - gives a very natural look.
Kiehl's Lip Gloss in Mahvelous Mauve - smooth, glossy, and a little goes a long way.
Smashbox Be Legendary in Fuchsia Flash Matte - it goes on like a lipstick and stays on like a lipstick but it feels like a balm and is definitely kinder on my skin than any other traditional lipsticks.
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Striking Spectaculaire - my new favourite colour/lipbalm combo - feels like a balm but comes out a beautiful mat corral (I can't find a link but I got mine in Boots).
